Two killed as SUV falls into water-logged underpass in Faridabad

New Delhi: Two bank employees were killed when a car they were travelling in got stuck in the old Faridabad railway underpass due to waterlogging. The police gave this information today.

According to police, the incident took place late on Friday night. The occupants of the car, Puneshreya Sharma (48) and Viraj (26), were returning home in Greater Faridabad from Gurugram.

Officials said Friday’s rain had flooded the Karl ‘underpass’ and cars were being warned not to move towards the underpass as a precautionary measure.

At around 11.50 pm, the SUV 700, ignoring all the warnings, entered the underpass and got stuck in the deep water, causing the water to enter the car, he said.

Passersby tried hard to pull out the two men trapped in the car and after a lot of effort, they were pulled out, but Viraj died on the spot, police said. Sharma was rushed to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
