Vigilance tightens noose around Bharat Ashu

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has tightened the legal whip against former minister and Congress leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Another case has been registered against Ashu in Ferozepur today in connection with the alleged food scam during the Congress government. Cases have so far been registered against him at four places, including Ludhiana, Faridkot and Nawanshahr.

The vigilance is probing the food scam and allotment of tenders at around 10 other places. According to vigilance sources, around a dozen cases are likely to be registered in the case. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has cancelled the bail of the former minister in a case. Ashu may have to spend a long time in jail if he is named by the Vigilance in more than one case.
