Punjab records 8,147 stubble burning incidents

Punjab has recorded a total of 8,147 incidents of stubble burning between the period September 15 and October 27, which is 20 per cent more than the number recorded in the same period last year.

The state witnessed 1,111 incidents of stubble burning on Thursday, with Tarn Taran, Sangrur and Patiala recording 40 per cent. According to the Ludhiana-based Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSS), there have been 8,147 incidents of stubble burning in Punjab in the period from September 15 to October 27.

According to data released by the Centre, a total of 6,742 incidents of stubble burning took place during the same period in 2021. The data also shows that around 67 per cent of such incidents took place in the last seven days.
