Vigilance arrests Congress councillor’s husband Anil Jain

The Vigilance team probing the transport tender scam in Punjab has arrested Anil Jain, a close aide of former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and the husband of a woman Congress councillor. 

The Vigilance had received information that Anil Jain was hiding in his cellar located on Dhothar Road.

The Vigilance had laid a complete trap to nab the accused, first of all the area police was present on the spot in plain clothes. At the same time, the sheller was locked from the outside. 

 According to the information received, Anil Jain has been held by Ludhiana vigilance office late at night. Ludhiana Vigilance SSP Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu is yet to make any confirmation in the matter. According to sources, the raiding team was led by DSP Ashwani Kumar.

The Vigilance Bureau has already named two commission agents (arhtiyas), including Anil Jain, husband of Congress councillor Rupali Jain, and Mahavir Bansal, brother of Mullanpur Dakha Municipal Council president Telu Ram Bansal, in the scam.

They are accused of bringing food grains from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar at cheap prices and selling them in Punjab at expensive prices.
