Lakhimpur Kheri case: UP govt opposes Ashish Mishra’s bail plea in Supreme Court, terms crime as serious

Punjabenews: The Uttar Pradesh government has dismissed as “heinous” and “serious” the bail plea of Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, in the Supreme Court in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Uttar Pradesh’s Additional Advocate General Garima Prasad told a bench of Justices Surya Kant and J K Maheshwari that the offence was serious.
“This is a serious and heinous crime and will send a wrong message to the society. Meanwhile, the court reserved its order on Mishra’s bail.”
