Corruption case: Court adjourns hearing on AIG Ashish Kapoor case till February 22

Punjabenews: IPS officer Ashish Kapoor, arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau in a corruption case, has not got any relief from the High Court at present.

The hearing on the petition filed by him in the High Court seeking regular bail in this case has been adjourned till February 22.
Senior advocate Bipan Ghai, appearing for Ashish Kapoor, said the plea was adjourned on Thursday as it could not be heard.
Punjab Vigilance had registered an FIR against AIG Ashish Kapoor on October 6. The case dates back to 2016 when he was posted as superintendent of central jail Amritsar.
He is accused of being in police remand along with his mother Prem Lata, brother Kuldeep Singh and sister-in-law Preeti in a case at a police station in Zirakpur. Ashish Kapoor then went to the police station and reportedly assured Rajan’s mother Prem Lata that he would arrange for his bail and acquittal from the court. According to the allegations, Ashish Kapoor, in connivance with the then SHO of Zirakpur Pawan Kumar and ASI Harjinder Singh, allegedly declared Preeti innocent in the case. According to the allegations, he received a bribe of Rs 1 crore in return.
