High Court dismisses plea for regular bail to IAS officer Sanjay Popli

Punjabenews: In a major setback to IAS officer Sanjay Popli, who was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau in a corruption case, the High Court has issued a major setback.

The high court has dismissed his plea for regular bail.
It may be recalled that the Vigilance Department had arrested IAS officer Sanjay Popli and his Assistant Secretary Sandeep Vats for allegedly demanding one per cent commission in the sewage tender to be found on Kariyam Road in Nawanshahr.
Popli was posted as chief executive officer of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
In June last year, the Punjab Vigilance team had raided the house of IAS officer Sanjay Popli in Sector-11 and seized 12.5 kg gold, three kg silver bricks and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash.
