Two goods trains collided in Madhya Pradesh, driver killed, engine catches fire

New Delhi: A loco pilot was killed and at least three other railway employees were injured when two goods trains collided in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district this morning, police said.

The collision was so severe that several bogies overturned after the collision and one of the engines caught fire. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital and the fire has been brought under control.
Railway officials swung into action to clear the track. The movement of several other trains was affected due to the incident. Railway officials said the tracks are being cleaned which will take some time. The cause of the accident will be known only after a detailed investigation, he said.
