Disproportionate assets case: HC grants regular bail to Sadhu Singh Dharamsot

Punjab News: In a major relief to former Punjab minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who is facing trial in a disproportionate assets case, the Punjab High Court today granted him regular bail in the case.
His bail plea was being debated for the last three days.
Earlier this afternoon, the high court had reserved its verdict on his bail. Pronouncing its verdict on Dharamsot’s bail late in the evening, the high court granted him regular bail in the case.
Senior advocate A P S Deo, appearing for Dharamsot, told the court that the vigilance had registered the entire case due to political enmity. The high court was told that Dharamsot has only two properties in his name.
One of the properties is in Amloh which is his ancestral property and the other in New Chandigarh which was given to the MLAs. He has already given full information about these two.
The high court, after hearing both the parties, granted regular bail to Dharamsot in the case late in the evening. It is also to be noted that a detailed order granting regular bail is yet to be issued.
Dharamsot was arrested on February 6 by the Vigilance after registering an FIR in a disproportionate assets case. The Mohali court had on March 5 rejected Dharamsot’s plea for regular bail.
