New Delhi: The US official has said that the long wait for green cards for people from India, China, Mexico and the Philippines is due to special quotas for countries. This policy can only be changed by Parliament.
The green card is officially known as the permanent resident card. The Green Card is a document issued to immigrants in the United States which is proof that the green card holder is allowed to live in the country permanently.
Under immigration law, 140,000 employment-based green cards are issued each year. However, only one of these countries can get only seven percent green cards every year.
