Navjot Singh Sidhu’s security pruning hearing in High Court today

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear today a petition filed against the pruning in security of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Earlier on Thursday, during the hearing, the Punjab government had presented a sealed report of the central investigating agencies in the High Court.
Navjot Singh Sidhu has filed a petition seeking enhancement of his security and said that z-plus security was given to him by the central government after assessing the threat to him, but when he was sentenced to one year in jail in the road rage case, his security was withdrawn due to his being in jail.
Sidhu said he was assured that his earlier security would be restored when he came out of jail after completing his sentence, but when he was released from jail, his security was reduced to Y category.
On not submitting the report related to the security review on the previous hearing, the High Court had taken a strong stand, saying that the Punjab government was trying to hang the matter. The court had given the Punjab government a last chance and ordered to file a report.
