Neeraj Chopra becomes World number 1in men’s Javelin ranking

Punjab E News: Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has become the world’s number one player for the first time in his career in the latest men’s javelin throw rankings released by World Athletics. 
Chopra topped the chart with 1455 points. He was 22 points ahead of Grenada’s world champion Anderson Peters (1433). Czech Republic’s Jacob Vadlezch, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, finished third with 1416 points.
     Chopra rose to second in the world rankings on August 30 last year but has not been able to beat Peters since then.
     Chopra, 25, reached number two in the world on August 30 last year but has since fallen behind Peters. 
In September last year, Neeraj Chopra won the final of the Diamond League 2022 in Zurich and became the first Indian to win the coveted trophy. He won the season-opening Doha Diamond League title on May 5 with a throw of 88.67 meters. 
    He will next compete at the FBK Games in the Netherlands on June 4, followed by the Pavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland on June 13.
