CM Mann blames Akali Dal for giving NOC to convert PU into Central University
Chandigarh: The chief ministers of Punjab and Haryana on Monday concluded their crucial meeting on the issue of stake in Panjab University. The two CMs have not been able to agree once again on this issue. They will meet again on July 3. The meeting between Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was chaired by Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has already raised objections in the matter. Mann said that this university is the heritage of the state. Punjab will not tolerate any change on this. Mann said PU has an emotional bond with the people of Punjab. It is a symbol of the state’s heritage. This university caters only to the needs of Punjab and its capital
Chandigarh.
Later, addressing a press conference here, CM Mann accused former CM Parkash Singh Badal and Akali Dal of giving no objection certificate to Centre for converting Panjab University into Central University.
