Punjab CM to hold meet with Manohar Lal Khattar today over PU issue, says ‘Haryana has no stake in PU’

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has categorically refused to give any stake to Haryana in Panjab University (PU) in Chandigarh. He said that PU is the legacy of Punjab and his government is committed to protect the rights of the state.
Mann said that even though Haryana is seeking affiliation of some of its colleges from PU, the Punjab government is not in favour of any Haryana stake in the university.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said this yesterday, a day before a meeting with Haryana CM Manohar Lal on the same issue on June 5.
A meeting of the two Chief Ministers is scheduled to be held at the Chandigarh Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Punjab Governor BL Purohit on Monday.
In this meeting, many issues related to Panjab University are to be discussed, including the issue of sharing in the fund given to the university. Significantly, Panjab University is facing an economic crisis.
In a meeting of the two Chief Ministers held three days ago on the same issue, Haryana CM Manohar Lal had said that if PU gives recognition to some colleges of Haryana, then his government can give 40% of the total expenditure of the university as grant in return.
