Punjab Government is making constant efforts to rehabilitate children in observation homes: Dr Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh: Under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is continuously striving to protect children involved in legal disputes, ensuring their overall development, and promoting positive behaviour.

Revealing this, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the state runs 4 Observation Homes (Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, and Faridkot for Boys, Observation Home Jalandhar for Girls) and 2 Special Homes (Hoshiarpur for Boys and Amritsar for Girls) under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

Cabinet Minister said that various initiatives are being taken for the all-round development and positive behaviour of these children. The support of corporate bodies is also being sought during the activities conducted for these children. The minister appreciated the cooperation of corporate institutions and also appealed to other interested institutions to cooperate.

The Minister emphasized that the children living in these homes should be given opportunities for mutual association, friendship, and personal development. She said that organizing sports events aims to inculcate sports discipline, a sense of competition, respect for time, and a sense of progress in children.
