Rakhi Bonanza To Women As CM Hands Over Appointment Letters To 5714 Anganwadi Workers
Amritsar News: In a Rakhi (Raksha Bandhan) bonanza to the women in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 5714 Anganwadi workers in the Social Security, Women and Child development department of the state.
Addressing the gathering in a state level function organized here at the Guru Nanak Dev University campus, the Chief Minister reiterated that the Punjab government is committed for the welfare of every section of the society. He said that to channelize the unbounded energy of the youth of the state, the Punjab government has given jobs to more than 35,000 youth. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the entire recruitment process has been carried in a transparent manner and jobs have been given to youth completely on merit.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is also ensuring the well being of all employees and workers for inclusive development of the state. He said that the record number of jobs given to youth have empowered them by making them partners in socio-economic development of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the role of Anganwadi workers is vital as they play a crucial role in grooming and overall development of children at a tender age.
The Chief Minister assured the gathering that the state government will take path breaking initiatives for the welfare of the Anganwari workers in the forthcoming days thereby ensuring that they don’t face any hardship during smooth discharge of their services. Striking a personal chord with the Anganwadi workers on the occasion of Rakhri festival, he said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that now daughters are outshining the boys in every field and parents are proud to raise a daughter. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that girls have proved their mettle in every sphere of life and all of us should encourage them to follow their dreams for the betterment of the society and the country.
The Chief Minister bemoaned that earlier daughters were dubbed as ‘Kudiya-Chidiya’ but now through their hard work, determination and perseverance the girls have proved that they are actually ‘Sherniya’ (lioness). He said that it is the bounden duty of the state government to empower the girls by opening new vistas of education and employment for them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he firmly believes that given a chance the girls can script a new success story in any arena of life.
Giving a strict warning of a stern action to the government employees those planning to go on the pen-down strike in support of their corrupt colleagues, the Chief Minister said that such cavalier behavior of the employees will not tolerated at any cost and he will not allow people of suffer due to pointless strikes by the government employees. He said that his government is always ready to address the genuine demands of the employees but he won’t accept blackmailing by them that too in support of those who have been arrested red handed while looting the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he has directed that the Essential Services Maintenance Act be invoked so that strict action is taken against these erring employees in case they go on leave.
In an emotive gesture, the Chief Minister said that his mother likes to live at his native village in Sangrur and it has been over 40 days since he had met his mother. However, he said that it is not deterring him to serve the Punjab with diligence as all elderly of Punjab are his mothers and their blessings are with him. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that whenever his mother watches him visiting villages, meeting the elderly people and touching their feet, she feels proud that her son is working tirelessly for the welfare of the state and bringing back its lost glory.
Lashing out at previous governments for unabated corruption and unemployment during their regime, the Chief Minister said that his government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption. He emphasized that they have brought a paradigm shift in the politics of the state by empowering the sons and daughters of common man. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that those who had confined themselves in palatial houses during their regime have been sent to political oblivion by the masses and a pro-people government is now serving the people with missionary zeal.
On the occasion, an Anganwadi worker also tied rakhi to the Chief Minister on the stage.
