Protest in Punjabi university today over student’s death; administration on its toes
Patiala News: In the wake of the controversy over the death of a student due to illness in the past, the students have planned to protest by closing the main gate of Punjabi University on Monday, under which the administration has also become active to maintain the academic atmosphere.
All the offices dealing with management affairs of the university were kept open on Sunday as well.
In this regard, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arvind also held meetings with University officials, police and other officers were present on the occasion.
The PUTA delegation, which met the VC, also expressed concern over the incident of attack on the teacher and assured cooperation to maintain the academic atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arvind said that the written complaints of the students are being investigated by Additional Sessions Judge (retired) Jaswinder Singh, on the basis of whose report action will be taken.
He said that there is also a special grievance redressal cell, internal complaints committee and anti-sexual harassment cell to address the grievances of the students. No complaint related to the current developments is pending in these cells.
The vice-chancellor said that students do not need to get leave for their treatment or to go out for any other work. The student can write in the hostel register whenever they want to go.
