Punjab Vigilance seeks permission to take action against former CM Channi in a corruption case 

Mohali News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has sought the government’s approval to take legal action against former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in a corruption case. 
      The case pertains to leasing out state government land in Goa at a cheaper price. This approval is considered mandatory under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1996, a senior vigilance official confirmed that a letter has been written to the government. 
       According to vigilance officials, legal action will be taken against the former chief minister after getting the green signal from the government. The former chief minister is also being probed in the disproportionate assets case, but the Vigilance has obtained enough facts in the Goa land lease case. 
         Even after becoming the Chief Minister, he kept this department with him. Channi is accused of leasing out land owned by the tourism department to the owner of a resort at a cheaper price. 
        The Vigilance has seized all the documents in this regard. The vigilance investigating officer had questioned the former chief minister twice in the past. The former chief minister was questioned by the Vigilance in April. The investigation team had asked about 100 questions.
