Khattar’s letter to CM Mann: Offers to hold meeting on SYL canal issue
Chandigarh News: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday wrote to his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann expressing his desire to discuss the matter with his Punjab counterpart following the Supreme Court’s order to conduct a survey in the state on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal.
Khattar, in the letter, said he was ready to meet Mann to find a solution to any hurdles in the way of construction of the SYL canal
He said the Supreme Court had ordered only a survey on SYL on October 4. It did not say anything about the distribution of water. Khattar said the Punjab Chief Minister had written to him on October 3, a day before the Supreme Court’s verdict on October 4, seeking time to hold a bilateral meeting on the issue. The last meeting between the two was on October 14, 2022.
After this, the Union Jal Shakti Minister discussed the second visit on January 4, 2023, in which the Chief Ministers of both the states were present. Both these meetings did not yield any result. Khattar hoped that now the Punjab government would definitely cooperate in resolving the SYL issue.
