Mohali News: Former Tarn Taran SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, DSP Jaspal Singh Dhillon and SHO Gurcharan Singh have apologized to the Privileges Committee of the Punjab Assembly for misbehaving with Tarn Taran MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal. The three police officers have also assured to apologise to MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal and convince him, sources said.
Privileges Committee chairman Kulwant Singh Pandori confirmed the appearance of the three police officers before the committee and said the committee members have directed the police officials to satisfy the MLA within a week. MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal, in a complaint to the Privileges Committee, had accused the police officials of misbehaviour.
What was the case
The case dates back to July 31, 2023 when MLA had said that he had called a meeting of DSP, three police station officers and police station in-charges regarding the problems of the assembly constituency. At the meeting, a volunteer from the assembly constituency accused the police of bias and not delivering justice.
According to Kashmir Singh, when he asked the DSP and SHO to give justice to the victim, the DSP and SHO started misbehaving with the victim in front of them. He objected to this behaviour of the police officers and said that they are misbehaving with the victim in your office and how will they treat people outside?
