CU video leak case: Police give clean chit to Himachal’s Sunny-Rankaj, main accused is army-man and female student
Punjab E News: The Kharar police on Thursday filed a charge sheet in a local court in connection with a objectionable video being made by a girl student at the Chandigarh University (CU) in Mohali, Punjab.
In the charge sheet, Indian Army jawan Sanjeev Singh, including the accused student, has been named as the main accused. According to police sources, the two Shimla youths, Rankaj Verma and Sunny Mehta, have been excluded from the charges and given a clean chit.
However, the police say that the court will now take the rest of the action during the hearing in this case.
Now the case will come to the stage of framing of charges in the court. This can probably give relief to Rankaj and Sunny. Earlier, the police did not have concrete evidence even in opposing his bail plea. Both are out on bail. At the same time, girl students and army personnel are in jail.
On September 17, the university students had accused the accused girl student of making a nude video of some girls bathing in the washroom. There was a huge ruckus and demonstration in the university for 2 days.
The police had picked up the accused MBA first-year girl student and Rankaj Verma and Sunny Mehta from Shimla and booked the three.
Later, jawan Sanjeev Mehta, a resident of Jammu posted in Arunachal Pradesh, was arrested and held on September 24. Police investigation revealed that the accused jawan was blackmailing the girl on the basis of her nude video and asking her for videos of other girl students who were with her in the university hostel.
