Chandigarh administration’s U-turn on World Cup final: Now big screens can be installed with permission, no ban on playing music
Chandigarh News: The Chandigarh administration reversed its decision on the directives issued for the ICC World Cup-2023 final match scheduled in Ahmedabad tomorrow (Sunday) between India and Australia.
Within 24 hours, the administration rescinded the orders that initially banned all forms of celebrations in the city.
As per the revised instructions issued by the Chandigarh Administration on Saturday afternoon, now the matches can be viewed and displayed by setting up large screens at any public place in the city. To install these open screens, permission can be sought at the DC office in Chandigarh by 7 pm on Saturday.
Additionally, the administration lifted the prohibition on playing music systems before, during, and after the match. According to the new orders, DJs, drums, and car music systems can now be played in Chandigarh under the Noise Pollution Rules-2000.
Furthermore, matches can be watched and shown with regular sound even after 10 pm on the public screens.
On Friday evening, the Chandigarh administration had issued orders to implement a partial curfew in the city on Sunday for the final match. Those directives included a ban on screening matches through open screens in any public place in the city and also prohibited playing any kind of music.
Following these directives, the Chandigarh administration faced widespread criticism. Subsequently, within just 24 hours, the administration withdrew these orders.
