After SC order, Punjab CM writes to Governor seeking to sign 5 pending bills
Chandigarh News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has once again written a letter to Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit. This time he has demanded governor Purohit to sign the pending bills citing the Supreme Court’s decision. Four of these five bills were passed in the budget session of the Punjab Assembly held on June 19-20.
“Five bills were passed by the Punjab Assembly which are pending with you for your consent. Four of these bills were passed in the meetings of the Budget Session held on June 19 and 20, 2023.
“In your earlier communication, you had said that the validity of the special sittings of the Assembly convened by the Speaker in June 2023 was in doubt, which was a hindrance in approving the bills. The issue relating to the meeting of the Punjab Legislative Assembly on June 19 and 20 and October 20, 2023 has been held valid by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in its orders passed in the court on October 10, 2023,” CM wrote in his letter.
