Ladowal toll plaza free in Ludhiana: Farmers gherao; Protest for not constructing Rahon Road
Farmers in Ludhiana staged a sit-in protest at the Ladowal toll plaza on Saturday over the poor condition of Rahon Road. The protest continues. Farmers made people’s vehicles toll free. The protest is being organised by Bharatiya Kisan Union Chaduni and Rahon Road Sangharsh Union.
Farmers have not blocked the highway and have only made the toll free. The farmers have warned that if their demands are not met, the sit-in will continue.
Due to the farmers’ protest, a large number of police forces are also present at the toll plaza.
Farmer leader Amrik Singh Sikri said that the condition of Rahon Road is pathetic. He said that if that road is built, toll income will stop. All the panchayats that are adjacent to Rahon Road are present here. Accidents are happening on this road every day.
Demand to build road going on since 2016
They allege that the government is not fulfilling the demands of the farmers. Raho Road has not been built since 2016. Due to the bad condition, people are losing their lives in road accidents every day. Many times demand letters have been given to the administration regarding this, but till date no one has taken care of it.
