Navjot Sidhu moves NGT in illegal mining case, makes Punjab govt party
Chandigarh: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has reached the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against illegal mining in Punjab especially in Ropar constituency.
He has made the Punjab government a party by filing a petition in this case. He has argued in the NGT that the officials responsible for illegal mining should be identified and action should be taken against them.
Also, illegal mining should be stopped on an initiative basis. The NGT has scheduled a hearing in the matter on Monday.
Navjot Singh Sidhu has revealed the filing of the case on his social media account. He said that illegal mining is going on on a large scale in the area. A large number of crushers are operating.
Apart from this, machinery is being used in mining. Due to this, there is a danger of changing the river bed. At the same time, there is also a risk of flooding. Apart from this, there is a bad effect on the environment, he argued in his complaint.
