CBI, ED and NIA teams to visit UK to expedite extradition process of fugitives
New Delhi: A high-level team of officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate and the National Investigation Agency will soon visit the UK to expedite the process of extradition of several fugitives, including defence equipment dealer Sanjay Bhandari, diamantaire Nirav Modi and Kingfisher Airlines promoter Vijay Mallya, to India.
It is learnt that the London-bound team will share information on long-pending cases with the UK authorities under the MLAT.
According to the MLAT, both countries are legally bound to share information about economic offenders and others. The NIA team is currently investigating several terror suspects linked to the Khalistani movement. If all goes according to plan, the Indian team is expected to leave any time this month.
