Punjab Police inducts Road Crash Investigation Vehicle in its fleet, CM announces to introduce Sadak Suraksha Force on Jan 26

Chandigarh: To prevent the loss of lives in road accidents in Punjab, the police are now leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones, and cutting-edge technologies.

Addressing the event to handover recruitment letter to over 450 cops including Sub-inspectors, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he will dedicate 129 advanced technology vehicle under Sadak Suraksha Force to tackle road accidents.

The initiative, spearheaded by the police, involves the introduction of the state’s inaugural Road Crash Investigation Vehicle into the police fleet. This vehicle has been deployed in the Rupnagar range initially, and similar units will subsequently be distributed to other districts in Punjab.

The vehicle boasts essential features, including a crash investigation kit, location-based video capture, a speed camera with geographic location linkage, a drone for area-based videography, a digital odometer, and e-car data collection capabilities.

Following an accident, the crash vehicle promptly reaches the incident site, conducting a thorough investigation to determine the root cause. Whether the accident results from road infrastructure issues, vehicle-related factors, or human error, the vehicle’s deployment aims to enhance overall road safety.

ADGP Traffic AS Rai, AIG Traffic Gagan Ajit Singh, and Traffic Advisor and Director of Punjab Road Safety and Traffic Research Centre Navdeep Asija affirm that this initiative will be advantageous for the public.
