Drug menace rises in past 3 years in Punjab, government should take strict measures, says governor Purohit

Chandigarh: Governor BL Purohit has once again expressed concern about the escalating drug issue in Punjab, stating that drug abuse has surged significantly.

He said that drugs are now prevalent in every village, and within three years, drug addiction has rapidly intensified. Addressing a gathering in Chandigarh, he emphasized the urgency of citizens and the government collectively combating this problem.

The Governor urged the government to identify and harshly punish those, including white-collar individuals, involved in drug trade for the eradication of this menace. T

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first instance where Governor Purohit has raised the issue; he previously addressed it during a visit to a border village, prompting the formation of vigilance committees and measures by the Punjab Police to combat drug trafficking.
