Punjab Budget 2024-25: Finance Minister Harpal Cheema presents the budget

Chandigarh: The Punjab government is set to present the budget for the year 2024-25 shortly. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will deliver the budget presentation in the Assembly.

All announcements will be made with consideration for the upcoming Lok Sabha, state, and panchayat elections. No new taxes are anticipated.

Additionally, the Punjab government may announce the monthly pension for women, similar to the schemes implemented by the Delhi and Himachal Pradesh governments. This initiative aligns with an election promise made by the Aam Aadmi Party.

The Budget session commenced on March 1 with Governor BL Purohit’s address; however, due to protests by the Congress, he was unable to deliver his full address. On March 4, amidst uproar, the Governor’s address was debated.
