Lok Sabha election preparations: ECI to hold meeting with Home Secretary today
New Delhi: Ahead of the announcement of lok sabha election dates, election commission officials will hold a meeting with top home ministry officials to review security preparedness.
Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla will meet Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Arun Goel today to discuss the deployment of central forces in the states. The meeting comes days ahead of the Commission’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review poll preparedness.
The Election Commission has sought 3.4 lakh personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces for the Lok Sabha and four assembly elections. There are about 97 crore voters across the country.
The Commission will set up around 12.5 lakh polling stations across the country. The Election Commission will also hold a meeting with top railway officials.
