‘21.5 crore young voters will decide the future’, says CEC Rajiv Kumar
New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar’s press conference has begun to announce the dates of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The dates will be announced shortly.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated, “Our team is now complete, and we are all set for the biggest celebration of Indian democracy. Our promise is to conduct national elections in a manner that enhances India’s shine on the world stage. We are committed to providing the country with a truly festive, democratic environment.” The term of the 17th Lok Sabha ends on June 16, 2024.
The terms of the assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim are also ending in June 2024.
The Chief Election Commissioner mentioned that there are 21.5 crore voters in the country up to 29 years of age, including 1.82 crore first-time voters. All these individuals will vote to determine their future.
The country has a total of 968 million voters, comprising 49.7 crore men and 47 crore women. He also noted that there are 48,000 transgender voters, 82 lakh people above 85 years of age, and 2,18,100 voters in the country.
