Lok Sabha Elections-2024: DEO instruct officials to work in unison for smooth conduct of elections

Jalandhar: District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has asked all the nodal officers to work in the unison to conduct the Lok Sabha elections for the Jalandhar (SC) Lok Sabha constituency in a smooth manner.

During a meeting with all the Nodal Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and Master Trainers at the DAC here, the District Election Officer said that the process of nominations for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha Constituency is currently underway till May 14.

Election activities are likely to accelerate after the completion of nominations, for which various monitoring teams including Flying Squad Teams, Static Surveillance Teams, Video Surveillance Teams, Video Viewing, deployed at each assembly level must work in more effective manner.

He said that if any complaint is received regarding violation of election code, then immediate action should be taken on it.

Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that after the nominations, the printing of the ballot paper and the EVM preparation is an important task which should be carried out as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India.

He also emphasized on comprehensive training of election/counting staff.

Deputy Commissioner also said that drinking water, refreshment, parking, security, medical teams, light and other necessary arrangements should be ensured for the polling parties at the polling personnel dispersal centers so that the polling parties do not face any kind of problem.

Giving instructions to make all the necessary arrangements for the convenience of the voters at the polling booths, the DEO said that in view of the possibility of heat, the arrangements of shade, cold water, waiting room etc. should be ensured at all polling stations.

The District Election Officer said that all the nodal officers should contribute to the completion of the election process with zeal .

SSP Jalandhar Ankur Gupta also emphasized on better coordination between the civil and police administration to conduct the Lok Sabha elections in a smooth manner.

He said that in view of the elections, security arrangements have been made by the police in the rural areas.

He said that strict action will be taken by the police against violations of the model code of conduct/hate speech/corrupt actions etc.

Meanwhile, presentations were given by the concerned nodal officers on MCMC, duties of micro observers, election expenditure monitoring, MCC/Daily Reporting Cell, vulnerability mapping, polling party and poll day arrangements.
