Punjab Women’s Commission seeks report from DGP over Channi’s video row

Chandigarh: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the incident involving Charanjit Singh Channi, who was declared the Congress candidate for the Jalandhar parliamentary seat, touching senior Akali Dal leader Bibi Jagir Kaur’s face in public.

The Punjab Women’s Commission has also taken serious note of the alleged indecent behavior towards former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab has been asked to submit a status report of the case by 2 pm tomorrow, May 14, 2024.

Referring to a video that has gone viral on social media, the Women’s Commission has taken serious cognizance of it and stated that Bibi Jagir Kaur is an important personality and she also served as the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
