Out of 328 candidates in Punjab, 289 candidates forfeited deposit including 10 of SAD and 4 of BJP
Chandigarh: This year, 328 candidates contested from Punjab for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, but 289 of them could not even save their deposit.
The four main parties except for the candidates of independents and smaller parties, then the number of candidates of the Akali Dal is the highest, while the BJP, which was an ally in the past, is second.
According to the data released by the Election Commission, the list of candidates includes 10 candidates from the Akali Dal, four from the BJP and one from the Congress. While all the candidates of Aam Aadmi Party, which became the second largest party in the state, have been successful in saving their deposit.
Congress candidate from Faridkot, Amarjit Kaur Sahoke (15.87 per cent votes), lost her deposit by a narrow margin from Faridkot, where she finished third.
