Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide by hanging himself in Sangrur
Punjab E News: Rohi Ram (45), a debt-ridden farmer, committed suicide by hanging himself last night in Jhaneri village near here. Assistant Sub-Inspector Gyan Singh said that according to the deceased farmer’s son Jatinder Kumar, he owns one acre of land. His father Rohi Ram has a government and non-government debt of Rs 8 lakh due to his education and family’s tribalism because of this, he was upset. That’s why my father committed suicide. Police have sent the body for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Amrik Singh, president of Bhartiya Kisan Union Ugrahan village Jhaneri, demanded that the Punjab government waive off the farmer’s loan.
