Communal violence breaks out in Jodhpur, shops and vehicles set ablaze; two cops injured

Jodhpur: Two policemen were injured, a shop was set on fire and two vehicles damaged in stone-pelting as communal violence broke out in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur area, police said on Sunday.

The clash took place last night over the construction of a gate behind the Eidgah near Rajaram Circle in Sur Sagar area.

The people of the area are opposing the construction of the gate. Tension escalated last night and some people pelted stones, in which two policemen were injured.

The shop and tractor were set on fire and the jeep was vandalised. Police have detained 40 people in this connection.
