Rattandeep Singh murder case: Main attacker tries to escape from police custody hours after arrest
Chandigarh: In a major operation by counter intelligence wing Jalandhar, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) member Simranjit Singh alias Bablu, who is the main attacker in the murder case of former terrorist Rattandeep Singh, tried to escape hours after his arrest.
Simranjit Singh sustained bullet injuries on both legs while trying to escape from police custody on the outskirts of Jalandhar city.
According to the information received, former terrorist Rattandeep Singh was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in SBS Nagar on April 3, 2024.
DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said here today that a team of Counter Intelligence Jalandhar was taking the accused Simranjit Bablu to the location mentioned as per his disclosure to recover the pistol used by him in the Ratandeep murder case when he attacked the police and tried to flee. Police teams had to open fire to stop the alleged accused.
Meanwhile, Simranjit Singh alias Bablu sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. The police teams also recovered two sophisticated weapons, a .32 Webbley revolver and a .32 pistol, along with a magazine and 19 cartridges from the accused.
