Vigilance Bureau arrests PSPCL Fazika JE for taking Rs 7000 bribe
Fazilka News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Wednesday arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) Kulbir Singh, posted at PSPCL office Fazilka while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 7000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above said official has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Sajjan Singh, a resident of village Mandi Hazoor Singh in Fazilka district.
He further added that the said complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the said PSPCL official has been demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 to install a power transformer in his village but the deal was struck at Rs 7000. The complainant has recorded the conversation with the JE for demanding this bribe which was handed over to the VB as an evidence.
The spokesperson informed that after verification of this complaint the VB team laid a trap and the said official has been arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 7000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the said accused at VB police station Ferozepur range and the accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
