17 convicted in drug-related money laundering case in Punjab
Chandigarh: A special PMLA court in Mohali today convicted 17 accused, including the “main kingpin” Jagdish Singh alias Bhola, in a money laundering case related to drug smuggling. An official source has given this information.
Bhola, a wrestler-turned-policeman and then a drug smuggler, and another accused Avtar Singh have been sentenced to 10 years in jail.
The federal probe agency had filed a charge sheet against 24 accused in 2015, the sources said. Seven of them were either declared proclaimed offenders or died during investigation or trial.
Almost all the 17 accused named in the charge sheet have been convicted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), he said.
Apart from Bhola and Avtar Singh, these include Sandeep Kaur, Jagminder Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Sukhjit Singh Sukha, Sukhraj Singh, Gurdeep Singh Manchanda, Amarjit Kaur, Davinder Singh, Maninder Singh, Subhash Bajaj, Sunil Bajaj, Ankur Bajaj, Dalip Singh Mann and Manpreet Singh.
