‘Hospital was negligent’: HC hands over doctor’s rape-murder probe to CBI

Kolkata: Kolkata: The probe into the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata will be handed over to the CBI, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The Calcutta High Court today ordered that the case be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

There is anger among the people about the rape and murder of the doctor in Kolkata, people are protesting all over the country about this.

The court said the victim’s parents wanted an investigation by an independent body to ensure that the evidence was not tampered with. It cited the KV Rajendran case in which the Supreme Court ruled that the power to transfer a case should be exercised in rare cases to ensure fair and complete investigation.
