Doctors on strike across Punjab against Kolkata incident, OPD services suspended

Chandigarh: The strike called by the Punjab Civil Medical Service (PCMS) Association against the Kolkata incident today brought OPD services to a standstill in 829 Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) and around 550 rural medical dispensaries across Punjab, besides government medical colleges and hospitals.

The nursing association has also joined the strike by suspending health services in government hospitals across the state.

Doctors are protesting against lax security arrangements in medical institutions and clinics.

Akhil Sarin, president of the association, said incidents of violence against doctors are on the rise across the country and the state and concrete steps need to be taken to bring them down.
