One dead, 35 injured as bus overturns, collides with truck in Punjab

Ludhiana: A bus overturned in Ludhiana, Punjab late on Monday night after a container hit it from behind.

One person died in the accident, while 35 people, including 3 children, were badly injured.

The bus was on its way to Jammu from Haridwar. The injured have been admitted to the civil hospital in Ludhiana. The deceased is yet to be identified.

The police have launched a probe into the matter. The cause of the accident is said to be the tyre puncture of the bus.

The incident took place around 1 am. One of the bus’s tyres was suddenly punctured. It overturned after hitting a divider on the road.

The container coming from behind hit the bus from behind. Both the container and the bus were damaged in the accident.

The container driver was also badly injured. The bus had left from Haridwar for a pilgrimage and was going to Jammu. There were 48 passengers in the bus.
