Former SAD ministers Manpreet Badal and Sucha Langah appear before Akal Takht
Chandigarh: In compliance with orders from The Akal Takht Sahib, former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ministers Manpreet Singh Badal and Sucha Singh Langah appeared at the Akal Takht on Friday.
Both leaders submitted separate explanations to clarify their roles in the cabinet during controversial decision-making periods.
Manpreet Singh Badal served as the finance minister in the SAD government from 2007 to 2010. He was removed from his position following a disagreement over a loan waiver offer by the central government and was subsequently expelled from the party in October 2010. Sucha Singh Langah, on the other hand, held the position of Agriculture Minister from 2007 to 2012.
While Manpreet Singh Badal did not comment on his appearance, Langah said that he was following the Akal Takht’s directive to provide a written explanation.
The summons come in the wake of an August 30 directive from the Akal Takht, which labeled SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal as a tankhayia and asked 17 former ministers to clarify their stance on the sacrilege issue within 15 days.
