Ex-police commissioner files defamation case against judge

New Delhi: Former Gurugram Police Commissioner Krishna Kumar Rao has filed a defamation case against a judge for his remarks against him in the court and sought Rs 1 crore as damages.

The case was filed in the court of Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Vikramjit Singh on Wednesday and was heard the same day.

The court posted the matter for further hearing on November 21. According to the senior IPS officer, Additional District and Sessions Judge Amit Sehrawat, in an order passed in February 2022, had rejected the bail application of former Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram Police Dheeraj Setia in the multi-crore loot case, saying there was more to the story.

The senior officer in the defamation suit argued that the judge’s comments were based on conjectures and had no judicial basis.
