Wife murdered 20 days after marriage in Barnala

Barnala: A man allegedly killed his wife 20 days after their marriage in Naraingarh Sohian village of Barnala. The deceased was killed by attacking her neck with a sharp object.

The accused has carried out the incident at night in the house itself. The police have taken the body of the deceased and started investigation.

Amritpal Singh, brother of the deceased, said that his sister Jaspreet Kaur (19) was married to Harmanpreet Singh, a resident of Naraingarh Sohian village on August 25. Her husband had been torturing her sister since her marriage. Meanwhile, his sister was murdered last night.

He said he received a call at around 3.30 am and rushed to the spot. Where the girl’s neck was stabbed with a sharp object, which led to her death.

He told that within 20 days of marriage, his daughter was killed by the in-laws. He said his daughter had a Canada visa and wanted to go Canada in January.

In this regard, Station House Officer (SHO) of Tallewal police station Nirmal Singh said that the body of the deceased has been taken into custody and postmortem is being conducted.

A case of murder has been registered against the girl’s accused husband by recording the statement of the deceased’s father Ajmer Singh. The accused is currently absconding, he said.
