Gas leak case: Deputy Commissioner orders magisterial inquiry

Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has ordered a Magistrate Enquiry into the gas leakage incident at an ice factory near Domoria Bridge. He directed Sub divisional Magistrate Jalandhar-1 to submit a detailed report within 15 days about cause of this incident and responsible persons besides directing the Factories Department and PPCB to inspect similar units to prevent future incidents. The DC directed the enquiry Officer to ascertain cause of ammonia gas leak, to identify and fix responsibility of individuals, parties, entities responsible for the incident including any lapse in safety protocol or negligence on the part of factory management, to suggest preventive measures to curtail recurrence of such events in future. He also asked the departments concerned to cordon off the affected area to ensure public safety.
