Sikh delegation meets Union Minister against Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: A delegation of office-bearers from various Gurdwara Committees, including those from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Takht Patna Sahib Committee, Haryana Gurdwara Management Committee, Takht Hazur Sahib Management Committee, as well as representatives from Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Hyderabad, and Jharkhand, met with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, today.
The delegation was led by Delhi Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka, General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, and former President and BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
The meeting focused on a memorandum concerning recent comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his visit to the U.S., where he expressed concerns about the safety of Sikhs in India. The delegation informed the minister that Sikhs have made significant contributions to the nation, from the freedom struggle to the protection of borders and other fields.
They claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s statement was aimed at inciting hatred against the Sikh community in India.
The delegation demanded that the government take serious note of Gandhi’s “irresponsible” remarks and initiate legal action against him. They also raised concerns about incidents involving Sikhs being harassed over the display of their religious symbols (the five K’s) at public places such as educational
