Divisional Commissioner urges youth to uphold legacy of Indian Classical Music

Jalandhar News: Jalandhar Divisional Commissioner Pardeep Sabharwal today called upon youngsters to become torchbearers of Indian classical music. Speaking at a musical event organized by Pandit Surinder Kumar Dutta Musical Circle Jalandhar in memory of Bharat Ratna Sitar Maestro Late Pandit Ravi Shankar Ji, Mr. Sabharwal emphasized the importance of preserving traditional music. He lauded the efforts of Pandit Surinder Kumar Dutta and Tilak Raj for holding this event annually to honor their guru, saying it plays a vital role in keeping the flame of classical music alive.

Mr. Sabharwal further stressed the need to introduce younger generations to the rich cultural heritage of India. He encouraged the organizers to host more events dedicated to Indian classical music and offered his full support for the cause.

 

Musical tribute to Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar Ji held in Jalandhar

The event saw renowned artists from across the country paying their musical tribute to the legendary sitarist. Performances by Pandit Kaushal Das Ji from Kolkata, Yashwati Sirpotdar from Pune, Ojas Adhiya, Siddhesh Bicholkar from Mumbai, and Jalandhar’s own Dr. Pratibha Sharma and Surjit Singh captivated the audience and received resounding applause.

Earlier, Divisional Commissioner Pardeep Sabharwal and Former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking a soulful tribute to the maestro of Indian classical music. They also honoured the artists who participated in the event from different places of the country.
