US opens 250,000 slots to grant visas to Indians

Washington: The United States has opened an additional 250,000 visa slots for Indian tourists, skilled workers and students, the US Embassy in India said.

The new slots will facilitate Indian applicants to conduct timely interviews and travel to the US, the US Embassy said.

It is worth mentioning that Indians had to wait for several months and years to give an interview to the US and after that it was decided whether to get a visa or not, but this move of america will benefit a large number of Indians.

According to embassy records, more than 1.2 million Indians have travelled to the US so far this year, an increase of 35 per cent over the same period in 2023.  It also shows that at least six million Indians already have visas to visit the US.
