India beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets to win the series 2-0

Chandigarh: India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the second and final Cricket Test to clinch the two-Test series 2-0 here today.

India scored 95 runs for the loss of three wickets in their second innings and won the match and the series after the Indian bowlers, led by Ravindra Jadeja, showed excellent performance and maligned Bangladesh’s innings.

With this victory, India has strengthened its position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) list. At the same time, India has also improved its own record by winning the 18th consecutive Test series on home soil.

Chasing a target of 95 in their second innings against Bangladesh, India rode on a 58-run partnership for the third wicket between Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) and Virat Kohli (29 not out) to post 98 for three in 17.2 overs. Meanwhile, India lost the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma (8) and Shubman Gill (6) early.

Earlier, for India, Jadeja took three wickets for 34 runs, Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for 17 runs and Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets for 50 runs and Akashdeep took one wicket for 20 runs. Opener Shadman Islam top-scored with 50 in Bangladesh’s second innings.
